DPR Commission III Demands Faces of Drug Suspects to be Shown to the Public: Death Penalty and Show on TV

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR Aboe Bakal Alhabsyi asked the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) to show the faces of drug suspects to the public and to give the death penalty as a sanction.

This was conveyed by Aboe Bakar in a working meeting with the BNN at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 3.

"Remember, sir, there is something painful, why are there more BNN drug players, sir? This needs to be considered. Brush off these drug players," said Aboe Bakar in his opening response.

Aboe also touched on the many cases of drug circulation in the correctional institution (prison). "The network in the prison, sir, is terrible and we must really find the parent players inside. I met people who have experience in prison, it's a lie if there is none and the mastermind is very beautiful sir. Please cooperate with the prison," said Aboe.

Aboe appreciated the performance of the BNN in terms of law enforcement operations. According to him, the BNN did not play around by successfully rolling up 63 drug networks. "I think this should be appreciated," said Aboe.

On the other hand, Aboe assessed that the BNN must be vigilant because it was reported that there were 56 international drug networks. According to Aboe, Indonesia is indeed a soft target for international-scale drug crimes.

"So this international player is playing in Indonesia. Indeed, Indonesian food is soft. So, this is a sign that Indonesia is being targeted as an international drug market. Moreover, it is displayed that the amount seized is not trivial. Such as methamphetamine up to 4.01 tons, tons of pak, not trivial pak. Marijuana is more than 2 tons. This is a very large amount," said Aboe.

Therefore, the PKS legislator asked the BNN to show the face of the drug case suspect to the public until there was a heavy sanction in the form of the death penalty.

"I haven't seen these players who were arrested being shown on TV with their faces, being beaten in the face like that. If it's necessary to see the players, there should be no collusion, pak, death penalty and show it on TV. We sometimes like to be vague with players like this, don't do it," he concluded.
