DENPASAR - The Bali DPRD Special Committee for Spatial Asset and Licensing (Pansus TRAP) highlighted the marina development project in the Bali Kura-Kura Special Economic Zone (KEK) in the Serangan Island area.

"This is the suitability of the space from the government has been checked in the field, whether the mangrove area is in accordance with the pier," said Chairman of the TRAP Sub-Committee of the Bali DPRD I Made Supartha, Monday, February 2.

The TRAP Sub-Committee initially carried out a raid to answer public complaints regarding the change in the function of the tahura.

When he went down, Supartha found a number of sand dredgers working, so the board questioned the permit to build the marina.

If referring to Bali Regulation Number 2 of 2023 concerning Bali Provincial RTRW, the construction of the marina requested by PT BTID as the investor of the Bali Kura-Kura KEK is located in the sports sub-zone tourism area.

Based on the zoning direction, the activities that are allowed are the recovery and rehabilitation of fish habitat and populations, research, beach recreation tourism, tourist pier activities, boat pier activities, marine tourism safety facilities, and water sports.

Meanwhile, if PT BTID has currently obtained the permit for the Approval of the Conformity of Space Utilization Activities (PKKPR) to create a marina, the board questioned how it would be when it was completed.

"This is only a permit for boats, not large ships, if it is for international yachts, the size is large, not as large as a boat," said Supartha.

The TRAP Committee also questioned the initial condition of the bay area to be used as a marina pier, because there were suspicions that the coastal area was previously a tahura land that was converted.

Head of the Licensing Department of PT BTID Anak Agung Ngurah Bhuana said that the construction of an international-standard marina there had received permission from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP).

They ensure that the sea space they use is in accordance with the permit and routinely report PKKPR every year.

At the Kura-Kura Bali SEZ itself, investors applied for land with an area of 62.14 hectares consisting of 58 hectares of waters and 4 hectares of mangroves, where the marina area is not a mangrove area.

"We never cut down mangroves, here we just normalize it, these are boats for deepening the channel because now it's only 5 meters, it needs a depth of up to 10 meters to build," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

Later, PT BTID also ensured that it would not include large ships only the size of international yachts, and would apply for a permit again when the marina was completed.
