Commission V of the DPR asks for road repairs to be completed before Eid al-Fitr

Member of Commission V of the House of Representatives, Sudjatmiko, asked the government to make preparations for the 2026 Lebaran homecoming in a mature and thorough manner to ensure the safety, smoothness, and comfort of the community during the homecoming and return flow. One of the main focuses is the preservation of national roads and toll roads.

Sudjatmiko asked that the road repair process be carried out quickly and on time so that it can be completed before the peak of the 2026 Lebaran homecoming.

"The government must ensure that there are no damaged roads that can endanger road users. Road preservation must be done quickly so that the results can be felt immediately by the community," Sudjatmiko told reporters, Friday, January 30.

Apart from national roads, Sudjatmiko also highlighted the readiness of toll roads. According to him, toll road managers have a strategic role in supporting the smooth flow of Lebaran homecoming.

He also appreciated the steps of PT Jasa Marga which plans to prepare four functional toll roads, which can be used by the public without being charged a fee, alias free of charge during the homecoming period.

"This step is commendable because it will help disperse traffic density and provide alternative routes for travelers," he said.

Sudjatmiko also asked the government to prepare many resting places. According to him, tired travelers can stop and rest for a moment at that place.

Not only infrastructure, Sudjatmiko also reminded the importance of traffic control strategies that must be prepared early. He assessed that traffic engineering was crucial to anticipate potential congestion and accidents on the homecoming route.

Therefore, he encouraged all stakeholders, from related ministries, the police, local governments, to toll road managers, to sit together and coordinate in preparing the 2026 Lebaran Homecoming comprehensively.

"The point is, the safety, smoothness, and comfort of the community must be the top priority in the implementation of the 2026 Lebaran homecoming," concluded Sudjatmiko.
