Sultan Hotel Enters Transition Phase, Government Opens Post to Protect Employees

JAKARTA - The government is preparing a quick step following the admonition (aanmaning) of the Central Jakarta District Court to PT Indobuildco regarding Block 15 of the Gelora Bung Karno Area (ex-Sultan Hotel). The focus is not only on state assets, but also the fate of workers who are affected by the legal process.

Secretary of the State Secretariat Ministry Setya Utama emphasized that labor protection was a priority in the midst of the management transfer process. Hotel operations are said to have declined due to legal uncertainty.

"The state is present to ensure that the transition does not sacrifice workers. This dispute is between the state and the corporation, not with employees," said Setya, Thursday (29/1).

Through the Bung Karno Gelora Complex Management Center (PPKGBK), the government opened the GBK Block 15 Management Relocation Service Post. The post is a consultation center for employees, vendors, and tenants of facilities so that operations continue during the transition.

Acting Director of PPKGBK Hendry Arisandi stated that existing employees have the opportunity to join the new management in accordance with regulations. Data collection and verification are carried out to ensure that labor rights are still protected. Vendors and tenants are also facilitated so that contracts adjust without disrupting the agenda.

Hendry gave an example of the management of Block 14 which is now the JICC as a precedent for asset transition. According to him, a similar pattern was applied in Block 15.

The Central Jakarta PN previously decided on Case No. 208/Pdt.G/2025/PN.Jkt.Pst which ordered PT Indobuildco to vacate the land and building and hand it over to the Ministry of Home Affairs PPKGBK. The decision is immediate.

The government asked the old management to cooperate so that the legal process would not prolong uncertainty for workers.
