Meeting with the Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait, KPK Emphasizes Meikarta Land is Clean and Clear

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that the area around the Meikarta Apartment, Cikarang, West Java can be used by the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) to build subsidized flats (flats).

This was conveyed by KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo after an audience between the KPK leadership and the Minister of PKP Maruarar or Ara Sirait at the KPK Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta today, January 21.

Budi emphasized that the Meikarta project bribery case that ensnared the Bekasi Regent for the 2017-2022 period, Neneg Hasan Yasin, had a permanent legal force. In addition, the KPK has never made any coercive efforts in the form of seizure of the apartment units that have been built.

"The status of Meikarta is clean and clear," Budi told reporters.

The KPK emphasized that it would support the Ministry of PKP's discourse to build subsidized flats on land around the Meikarta Apartment. This way, Budi said, as a form of optimizing assets so that they are beneficial to the community.

"Of course, the KPK also fully supports the government's efforts through the Ministry of PKP," he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of PKP Ara Sirait said that his arrival in the audience was to consult with the KPK. "Regarding our plan to build in our functions as regulators, facilitators, and also operators," said Ara.

Furthermore, Ara said the Meikarta area would be the first location for the construction of subsidized flats. "And from the KPK leadership that there is no legal problem to start," explained the Gerindra Party politician.

This subsidized apartment will later be aimed at low-income people (MBR) around the area.

"I have come to the area twice, I met directly with the people there. I came to the school, I came to the hospital, I came to the market, I came to the industrial area. So I saw it directly. So what is the legal certainty like, well, today it has been answered," he concluded.
