PATI - Residents of Pati Regency, Central Java, who are members of the Pati United Community Alliance (AMPB) support the KPK's Operation Catch the Hand (OTT) and demand that law enforcement be carried out transparently, accountable, and without discrimination.

"Support for the KPK is given so that public confidence in efforts to eradicate corruption can really be restored," said AMPB Presidium Chairman Suharno on the sidelines of a peaceful action in front of the Pati Regency Palace, Tuesday, January 20, reported by ANTARA.

According to him, the OTT carried out by the KPK is a serious concern for the public, especially in the midst of the Pati community's condition which is being hit by various disasters.

He regretted the alleged practice of corruption involving a number of government officials, ranging from regional heads to officers at the village and sub-district levels, at a time when the community was experiencing a disaster, thus injuring the public's sense of justice.

In a statement of position read by Suharno, AMPB assessed that OTT against Pati Regent Sudewo, as well as a number of village heads and sub-district heads, was part of a long process of public escort for alleged corruption practices in Pati Regency.

From the beginning, AMPB together with civil society elements has consistently voiced, reported, and monitored alleged abuse of authority that has occurred, even though it is colored by various pressures and allegations of criminalization of critical citizens.

The AMPB emphasized that the KPK's steps must be a gateway to thoroughly uncover alleged corrupt practices that have occurred. The legal process, according to them, must be carried out openly and professionally so as not to arouse suspicion among the public.

In addition, AMPB urges the KPK to accelerate the investigation process for this case. Legal certainty is considered very needed by the Pati community, who have felt disadvantaged due to corrupt practices and abuse of power.

The handling of the protracted case is feared to only trigger speculation and public uncertainty.

AMPB also invites all elements of the Pati community to continue to monitor the law enforcement process together. Public participation is considered important to ensure that corruption eradication goes hand in hand with efforts to stop the criminalization of citizens and solve various structural problems on the Earth of Pati.

"AMPB is committed to continuing to monitor this process until it is completed as the moral responsibility of civil society in fighting for a clean, just, and people-oriented government," he said.

Meanwhile, Anik, the wife of Supriyono who is currently entangled in a legal case after carrying out a demonstration demanding the reduction of the Pati Regent, hopes that her husband will be released.

He assessed that her husband was only being critical and voicing his rights as a citizen and was allegedly criminalized.
