Jagakarsa Residents Stabbed with a Knife After Beating a Driver

JAKARTA - A resident was stabbed with a screwdriver after reprimanding a motorcycle rider wearing an online motorcycle taxi attribute for smoking while driving. The incident occurred on Jalan Moh Kahfi 1, specifically in front of Jalan H. Montong, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Monday, January 19, 2026, at around 14.30 WIB.

Jagakarsa Police Chief Kompol Nurma Dewi confirmed the incident. He said the police had made efforts to search for the perpetrator.

"We have already searched. We also know where the perpetrator lives and have visited him, but the person concerned is not at home. We are still looking for him," said Nurma when confirmed, Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

According to Nurma, before fleeing, the perpetrator had threatened residents around using a sharp knife, which made residents gather at the scene.

The victim is known to have reported the incident to the police and underwent a visa for the purpose of investigation. However, the police have not detailed the injuries suffered by the victim.

"The victim has reported and a visa has been carried out," he said.

Until now, the police are still investigating the motive and the complete chronology of the incident. The public is also urged to remain calm and immediately report if they know the whereabouts of the perpetrator.

"The perpetrator is still being searched," Nurma said briefly.

It is known that this incident went viral on the Instagram social media. Based on the narrative that circulated, the incident began when the traffic flow at the location was jammed. The victim then reprimanded the perpetrator in a good way so as not to smoke while riding a motorcycle.

However, the perpetrator did not accept the rebuke. He got off the motorcycle, opened the seat of his vehicle, then chased the victim and stabbed him with a screwdriver twice.

A parking attendant who tried to resolve the incident was also a victim and suffered injuries from stabbing.
