BANDA ACEH - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is rebuilding 60 temporary housing units (Huntara) for residents affected by floods and landslides in Langkahan District, North Aceh Regency.

"This huntara is built with a modular system with a light steel frame, so that the construction process can proceed quickly without reducing the quality of the building," said Spokesperson for the Aceh Flood and Landslide Command Post, Murthalamuddin in Banda Aceh, Wednesday, January 14, reported by ANTARA.

He said that the 60 Huntara units were built by the Ministry of Public Works (PU) which was handled directly by the Strategic Infrastructure Directorate General of the PU Ministry with the implementation of PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk.

He said that currently, the initial stage in the form of cleaning and initial work on the structure on the land provided by the North Aceh Regency Government has been carried out.

"Huntara is built in five blocks along with utility areas with a total building area of 1,440 square meters," said Murthalamuddin.

In addition, the PU Ministry is also still conducting additional location surveys around the area to meet other Huntara needs.

"The arrangement of the huntara area is made integrated so that the process of restoring the lives of affected residents runs faster and more targeted," he said.

In addition to residential units, the huntara area is also equipped with communal toilets, shared kitchens, washing areas, electricity networks, lighting, and clean water and sanitation systems.

"These facilities are prepared to ensure that people can carry out their daily activities properly while occupying temporary housing," said Murthalamuddin.

He added that the priority of the Huntara in Langkahan is to ensure that the affected residents immediately have a safe and decent place to live.

Previously, Bulak Sumur, UGM, and Tangguh Research Group on Resilient Architecture were also building 100 huntara in Geudumbak Village, Langkahan District.
