Megawati reminds PDIP cadres to prioritize political ideas: Criticism must be based on data

JAKARTA - PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) General Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri stated that the criticism made by her cadres must be based on data and facts. Statements should not be based on anger that leads to personal attacks.

This statement was based on the closing speech of the 2026 PDIP National Working Meeting (Rakernas) at the Beach City International Stadium, Ancol, North Jakarta, Monday, January 12.

"Facing power, the party's struggle is not carried out with anger, not with personal attacks, and not with empty confrontations. Such ways actually distance us from the character of nationhood," Megawati said in front of her cadres.

Megawati reminded that the party's struggle line was based on the struggle of ideas, moral strength, and the partiality of policies. So, it is hoped that its cadres can ensure that state policies are in accordance with the interests of the people and social justice.

As a balancing party, Megawati continued, her cadres must also criticize government policies based on data.

"Our criticism must be based on data, the real experience of the people, and ideological values - not emotional provocation. That is how the Party maintains its political dignity," said the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

In addition, the national political discourse should not only be stuck on stability and economic growth, but also talk about social justice, food and energy sovereignty, ecological justice, and the quality of democracy. He also underlined that in a democratic system, the government is not a personal enemy but an object of legitimate policy criticism.

Not only that, Megawati asked PDIP to be a place for the people to seek justice. "The political strength of the PDI Perjuangan must not depend on closeness to power, but on the trust, participation, and political awareness of the people," he concluded.
