PBNU-Muhammadiyah does not admit to confirming Komika Pandji Pragiwaksono's report to the police

JAKARTA - The General Manager of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) and the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah confirmed that the group that reported comedian Pandji Pragiwaksono to the police was not part of the official organization.

"If the representation of PBNU is clear, it is not," said the Chairman of PBNU, Ulil Abshar Abdalla, as quoted in the official PBNU in Jakarta, Friday.

According to him, since long ago, many groups or individuals have carried out various activities in the name of NU. This, said Gus Ulil, is inseparable from the character of NU as a large organization that is open.

"But, from the beginning, many people have done this in the name of NU. Because NU is open, yes, anyone can make an institution in the name of NU," he said.

He said that a number of movements that emerged in the name of NU were often spontaneous and temporary. In fact, some of them only lasted for hours.

"There are those who want to demonstrate for a certain issue, create a movement in the name of NU. Its life may only be a few hours, because after the clock passes, the movement is no longer there. That is the uniqueness of NU," he said.

Meanwhile, through the official X account, the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah said that statements and actions in the name of the Muhammadiyah Youth Alliance were not official attitudes or mandates from the Muhammadiyah Association.

Every official step and attitude of Muhammadiyah can only be conveyed by leaders who have the authority in accordance with the Muhammadiyah Articles of Association and House of Representatives.

"The name of Muhammadiyah by certain groups or individuals in the context of legal actions and public statements does not necessarily reflect the views and attitudes of the Muhammadiyah Association," wrote the official statement from Muhammadiyah.

Muhammadiyah respects the right of every citizen to take legal action, but this is the personal or group responsibility, not the Muhammadiyah institution.

Previously, the single comedian or Komika Indonesia Pandji Pragiwaksono was reported by a party on behalf of the Indonesian Youth Movement and the Muhammadiyah Youth Alliance to the Polda Metro Jaya regarding allegations of defamation of the Islamic organization.

"We consider that the person I reported, whose initials are P, is considered to have spread issues that are not positive, has degraded, defamed, especially the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia, namely NU and Muhammadiyah," said the reporter Rizki Abdul Rahman Wahid who represented the Young Generation of Nahdhatul Ulama (NU) and Muhammadiyah.
