Member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Irma Suryani Chaniago, said that her party would call the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to discuss a number of nutrition service fulfillment units (SPPG) or kitchens implementing the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program that are problematic.
Irma said, Commission IX of the DPR immediately scheduled a public hearing (RDP) with BGN following the findings of the SPPG which were considered not to meet the sanitation standards. As well as other problems found by members of Commission IX of the DPR in their respective electoral districts (dapil) during the recess.
"RDP is scheduled for the beginning of the trial," Irma said in a written statement on Friday, January 9.
As is known, BGN which handles the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program is a working partner of Commission IX of the DPR. Currently, the DPR is still undergoing a recess period from December 10, 2925 to January 12, 2026.
Irma revealed that Commission IX of the DPR will also ask BGN for clarity on nutritional standards and the quality of MBG menus. Because based on findings in the field, said Irma, there are still many MBG menus that contain excessive sugar, salt, and fat.
Then, he added, there was also an MBG menu that used imported milk and food with preservatives such as meatballs and bread. He assessed that this issue was a homework (PR) that must be completed.
"This is still a homework for the PR in the Commission," said Irma.
Furthermore, the NasDem Legislator from the South Sumatra II District also highlighted the case of MBG poisoning. Although the number of poisoning cases has decreased significantly, according to Irma, the decline in cases has not been in line with the still found problems in the quality of the menu and the SPPG sanitation standards.
"However, for the success of MBG, the claim of the President needs to be appreciated, it does not need to be questioned," said Irma.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto claimed that the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program had succeeded by almost 100 percent, namely 99.99 percent.
Prabowo made the claim about the success of the MBG program during a cabinet retreat and the 2026 Early Year Briefing, at the Garuda Yaksa Training Center, Bogor Regency, West Java, Tuesday, January 6.
"We are grateful that if we study objectively, we can say that we have succeeded 99 percent. So you certainly hope that zero defect is what we have to achieve," said Prabowo in a cabinet retreat in Hambalang, Tuesday, January 6.
