Prabowo: A country cannot be called independent if it depends on food from outside

KARAWANG - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reiterated his commitment to maintaining the integrity and responsibility of the Red and White Cabinet by asking ministers and officials to work hard. The affirmation was delivered by Prabowo in his speech at the Raya Harvest and Food Self-sufficiency Announcement event in Karawang, West Java, Wednesday, January 7.

In his speech, Prabowo quoted Article 33 Paragraph 3 of the 1945 Constitution which states that the earth, water, and natural resources contained therein are owned by the state and are used to the greatest extent for the prosperity of the people. He emphasized that the mandate of the constitution must be understood clearly by all state officials.

"Article 33 of the 45 Constitution is clear, there is no need for an interpreter. If you don't understand, just resign. Immediately resign. There are many who can replace, good young people who want to fight for the good," said Prabowo.

On the other hand, Prabowo expressed his appreciation to his aides who were considered to have worked and fought for the people's interests. He believes that collective work will lead Indonesia to sustainable progress.

"Thank you for your dedication. This makes us more confident, from result to result, from victory to victory. Indonesia is capable, Indonesia is enthusiastic, and prosperity must really be in the hands of the Indonesian people," he said.

Prabowo also highlighted the achievement of rice self-sufficiency which was successfully achieved within one year. In fact, the government's initial target was to achieve food self-sufficiency within four years. For this achievement, Prabowo gave direct respect to the government and the people of Indonesia.

He admitted that the habit of paying homage to subordinates was a reflection of his experience as a soldier. According to Prabowo, although in the military tradition subordinates usually pay homage to their superiors, he is accustomed to paying homage as a form of appreciation for the dedication and achievements of his subordinates.

"Let me follow my instincts and habits since I was young. Let me respect all my brothers who have fought and served so that we can achieve food self-sufficiency," said Prabowo before leaving the podium and paying homage in front of the stage.

On this occasion, Prabowo officially declared that Indonesia had succeeded in achieving food self-sufficiency by the end of 2025. He emphasized that food self-sufficiency is an important milestone for national sovereignty.

"It is impossible for a country to be called independent if its food needs still depend on other nations," said Prabowo.
