President Prabowo Subianto has formed a Post-disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force for the Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra regions with the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian as Chairman and Richard Tampubolon as Vice Chairman.
The formation of the task force and the appointment of Tito as the Head of the Task Force were decided by President Prabowo during the Red and White Cabinet retreat or the early year briefing at the Garuda Yaksa Training Center, Hambalang, Bogor, West Java.
"The President has decided to form a Post-disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force in three provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra," said Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi in Hambalang, Tuesday, January 6, reported by ANTARA.
"He appointed Mr. Tito Karnavian, Minister of Home Affairs, as the Chairman of the Task Force, accompanied by Deputy Chairman of the Task Force Mr. Richard Tampubolon, then assisted by the Board of Directors which will be headed by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture) Pratikno," he added.
Prasetyo said the formation of the task force was aimed at accelerating the handling of the impact of disasters that occurred in three provinces with a wide coverage of affected areas.
He said Tito's appointment as the Head of the Task Force was because President Prabowo considered that cross-regional and cross-ministry coordination would be more effective if it was under the leadership of the Minister of Home Affairs.
Prasetyo said the initial priority of the task force was focused on the construction of temporary and permanent housing for people who were still in exile.
A number of ministries and agencies, including the police, have reported involvement in assistance and housing construction, while the Ministry of Public Works is preparing a handling plan based on a summary of damage data.
"Previously, several reported that almost all ministries, in addition to Danantara, provided assistance or built housing, then the police also built housing, then PU has also planned based on the data received, both minor damage, moderate damage, and severe damage," said Prasetyo.
For houses with minor and moderate damage, the government is preparing to realize compensation as soon as possible so that the community can immediately repair their homes and return to their respective homes.
Prasetyo said the task force was targeted to work as quickly as possible in rehabilitating and reconstructing the three disaster-affected areas.
"If the target is as soon as possible, the stages are already there," he said.
