JAKARTA - The government will soon appoint a new Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes or Jampidsus. The assessment process for the successor candidate is said to have entered the final stage and is waiting for a Presidential Decree.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the Attorney General had sent a name proposal to President Prabowo Subianto. The proposal was submitted after the previous Jampidsus official resigned.

"Officially, the Attorney General has sent a letter to the President regarding the proposal for a replacement for the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes who some time ago submitted his resignation," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Monday (20/7).

According to Prasetyo, the proposal has been processed through the Final Assessment Team or TPA. The government targets all stages to be completed in a few days.

"It has been processed according to the mechanism through the Final Assessment Team and God willing, it will be completed in a few days," he said.

After the assessment process is completed, the President will sign a decision regarding the replacement of the official.

"Later the Presidential Decree on the replacement will be signed," said Prasetyo.

However, he has not revealed the names of the candidates proposed by the Attorney General or the number of candidates assessed by the TPA.

Jampidsus is a strategic position in the Attorney General's Office. This field handles the investigation and prosecution of special criminal cases, including corruption.
