KARANGASEM - The Karangasem Police, Bali, arrested two perpetrators of theft and violence against two foreign tourists from Uzbekistan with the initials IF and AL.

The two perpetrators with initials INB (26) and IWG (29) are cross-district jambret specialists in Bali. The two were arrested at different locations after being fugitives for several months.

The head of the Karangasem Police, AKBP Joseph Edward Purba, said the two perpetrators were street specialists who often targeted foreign tourists.

"This arrest is our commitment to maintaining the security of the Karangasem Police jurisdiction, especially for tourists. These two perpetrators are known to be quite slippery and often move. They do not only act in one place, but are cross-district specialists who have operated in Karangasem, Klungkung, Denpasar, to Gianyar," said AKBP Joseph, in a written statement, Tuesday, January 6.

The incident began on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, when the two victims were riding a motorcycle to Padangbai Beach, Karangasem.

While driving on the Denpasar-Padangbai Highway, specifically in the BTN Tengading area, Antiga Village, the victim's motorcycle was suddenly hit and hit from the left by two unknown men.

The hard collision caused the victim to fall. Taking advantage of the victim's helpless situation, the perpetrators quickly snatched the victim's iPhone 16 Promax which was attached to the motor's rearview mirror holder, then sped away towards Denpasar City.

"As a result of this incident, the victim suffered material losses of up to Rp. 21,000,000," he added.

The victim immediately reported to the Karangasem Police. Finally, the police arrested the first perpetrator with the initials INB and then secured the perpetrator IWG.

In this case, the police secured evidence of a blue Honda PCX motorcycle used by the two perpetrators, and an iPhone 16 Promax belonging to the victim.

"To the public and tourists to always be vigilant when carrying valuables on the road. Avoid putting cellphones on conspicuous motorcycle holders and always prioritize driving safety," he said.

Currently, the two perpetrators are in the Karangasem Police detention cell and are charged with Article 479 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with violence with a maximum penalty of 9 years in prison.
