JAKARTA - Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas said the Presidential Regulation Draft derived from Law Number 20 of 2025 concerning the Criminal Procedure Code, will regulate the use of imitation intelligence or artificial intelligence (AI).

"So, Mr. Deputy Minister (Deputy Minister of Law Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej) has explained that in the process of examination to avoid intimidation, violence committed by investigators or others, then one of the information technologies will likely use BAP (news of the examination, red.) electronically. So by using AI," said Supratman as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 6.

According to him, the use of AI will make the statements made by the suspects or suspects can be typed automatically, so that they just have to be signed.

Furthermore, he said that this would be regulated in the Draft Presidential Regulation on the Criminal Justice System Based on Information Technology.

"So, all the progress we have made in implementing the KUHAP," he said.

Previously, the KUHAP Law was signed by Prabowo Subianto as the President of the Republic of Indonesia, and promulgated by Prasetyo Hadi as the Minister of State Secretary, namely on December 17, 2025.

Based on Article 369 of the KUHP, the regulation has been in force since January 2, 2026.
