Head of the Cikampek Toll Road Patrol (PJR), Kompol Sandy Nugraha Titah, said the bus was on fire at KM 06A.
"Upon arrival at the KM 06A crime scene, the driver saw smoke beside the right side of the car. Furthermore, the driver stopped his vehicle," said Sandy as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, January 5.
He explained that the PJR Cikampek officers who were on patrol immediately approached the bus and helped secure the location and help the driver.
"The patrol team has evacuated 34 passengers to a safe place, considering the fire is getting bigger," said Sandy.
Based on the driver's statement, he said, the fire came from a korsletingsound system.
"The car is from Metro Lampung and is going to visit the Tomb of the Wali Songo," said Sandy.
From the video received by ANTARA, the bus was seen burning fiercely on the shoulder of the road, and a number of officers were trying to put out the fire. A number of passengers were also evacuated.
