Kaltara Police Chief Emphasizes Disaster Preparedness and Adaptation to the New Criminal Code

TANJUNG SELOR - North Kalimantan Police Chief (Kaltara) Irjen Djati Wiyoto Abadhy led the morning appeal of Kaltara Police personnel at the Kaltara Police Field.

Irjen Djati emphasized the importance of the readiness of personnel to face potential disasters and strengthening the performance of the police at the beginning of the 2026 Fiscal Year.

In addition, the Police Chief also appreciated all levels for the success of securing the 2025 Christmas celebrations and the 2026 New Year's Eve which took place safely, orderly, and conducive.

"This achievement is the result of hard work, dedication, and the solidity of the personnel of the Kaltara Police in maintaining security stability," said Inspector General Djati, Monday, January 5.

The Police Chief revealed that entering the new fiscal year, all heads of work units and regions immediately prepared a work plan that was mature, measured, and realistic, by using the previous year's performance evaluation as a basis for improvement.

"The work of the Kaltara Regional Police must be more professional, responsive, and adaptive to the dynamics of kamtibmas," said Inspector General Djati.

Special attention was also given to the intelligence function. The Police Chief emphasized the importance of early detection and early warning of potential security disturbances.

"North Kalimantan is seen as safe, but if we are careless, small problems can develop quickly. Don't let us be fooled," he said.

Regarding extreme weather conditions, the Regional Police Chief reminded the increased rainfall in the Kaltara area which has the potential to trigger hydrometeorological disasters such as floods, landslides, and disruptions to transportation access.

"For this reason, I ask all levels to increase vigilance and readiness, especially units that have Search and Rescue (SAR) capabilities, to ensure that personnel and equipment are ready to use," he explained.

In addition, the Police Chief also instructed the Samapta function to strengthen the initial response in the field, securing the affected locations, traffic arrangements, and evacuating the community.

"I ask Polairud to increase readiness in the waters and coastal areas, while Satbrimob is on standby as a rapid reaction force in handling disasters and contingency situations," he said.

The Police Chief also emphasized to the investigators to immediately understand and adjust the implementation of their duties with the new Criminal Code (KUHP) in accordance with Law Number 1 of 2023. Comprehensive understanding is considered crucial to ensure professional, accountable, and just law enforcement.

"All personnel to avoid disciplinary violations, codes of conduct, and criminal offenses. He hopes that 2026 will be a momentum for increasing the integrity, quality of performance, and the service of the National Police to the people of Kaltara," said Inspector General Djati.
