JAKARTA - Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin directly led a coordination meeting to prepare for the implementation of the Kuala Task Force (Satgas) in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh, Sunday, January 4, 2026.

In an official press release received in Jakarta, it was explained that the meeting was held to ensure that the task force worked well in dredging rivers, utilizing water, and restoring disaster areas comprehensively.

Some officials who attended the meeting included the deputy commander of the TNI, the presidential special staff for infrastructure, the head of the defense logistics agency (Kabaloghan) of the Ministry of Defense, the commander of the Iskandar Muda (IM) Command, and the regent of Aceh Tamiang. This meeting was held at the Tangsi Lama Village Office, Seruway District.

"This meeting is focused on synchronizing technical plans, equipment readiness, logistical support, and the integration of the Kuala Task Force program with the post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction stages," the press release quoted.

During the meeting, Sjafrie emphasized the plan to deploy heavy equipment by the Kuala Task Force, which will begin in the next two weeks.

Thus, the normalization of rivers and estuaries can go hand in hand with rehabilitation and reconstruction programs for the region.

With the normalization of the river, at the disaster site, Sjafrie believes that conditions in the region will recover because the supply of water to be processed into clean water will increase.

He also emphasized that the goal of the Kuala Task Force was not only to normalize the river but to support the recovery and strengthening of the economy of the people who live along the riverbanks and the Tamiang estuary area.
