JAKARTA - The Regent of Aceh Tamiang, Armia Fahmi, reported to President Prabowo Subianto that clean water services in his area began to gradually recover after the flood disaster that hit at the end of November 2025.

In a limited meeting attended online from the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta, Thursday, January 1, Armia said that the facilities of the Aceh Tamiang Drinking Water Company (PDAM) were severely damaged by the flood.

"Our PDAM has suffered quite fatal damage and is currently in the repair phase," Armia Fahmi told the President.

He explained that the central government through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has provided support in the form of two units of generators to strengthen the electricity supply at the clean water installation.

Currently, the PDAM clean water distribution service has just reached two sub-districts, namely Kuala Simpang and Karang Baru.

In addition, the Ministry of Public Works plans to rebuild the clean water infrastructure for three other affected sub-districts in Aceh Tamiang to expand the coverage of PDAM services.

In the midst of this recovery process, the residents' need for clean water is also met through emergency measures. Armia said the assistance of the TNI and Polri in drilling ground wells was very helpful to the community.

In addition to drilling wells, the supply of clean water using tanker trucks to affected villages is also continuing to ensure that residents continue to have access to clean water.

In a limited meeting held in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province, the Chief of Staff of the Army, General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, reported that his party had drilled clean water at 129 points in the area.

This number does not include additional boreholes built by BNPB and the National Police, which are estimated to reach hundreds of points.

"In the evacuation site we are drilling, also in schools, mosques, and districts. We are working simultaneously, including support from the Ministry of Defense which sent 10 fire units, so that the process of restoring clean water can run quickly," said Maruli.

On the same occasion, BNPB Head Suharyanto explained that the boreholes built by the National Police had a depth of around 10 to 30 meters, while the TNI AD boreholes had a depth of 100 to 200 meters for drinking water needs.

"Everything has been implemented, even though it is still not completely sufficient. For daily needs, clean water supply is still assisted by a tanker car that operates every day," said Suharyanto.
