China Fires Rockets during Military Exercise in Taiwan Strait

China fired a rocket into the Taiwan Strait on Tuesday morning local time.

AFP journalists in Pingtan - a Chinese island that is the closest point to Taiwan's main island - saw a barrage of rockets shoot into the air around 9am this morning.

The barrage of rocket fire by China left a trail of white smoke.

According to AFP footage, the missile firing was held on the second day of Chinese military exercises. The location is at a point around the island of Taiwan.
