JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is operating the Jakarta Planetarium again for the general public to enjoy. This celestial object performance facility was reopened on December 25, 2025, after being out of operation for 13 years.
It turns out, the enthusiasm of residents who want to watch this space simulation show is very high. Every show opens, the tickets ordered can be sold out in less than 3 minutes.
"According to capacity, the available seats are 200 per show. Every time we release, less than 3 minutes it is immediately sold out. It is always sold out," said Head of SBU Taman Ismail Marzuki, Anya Aprilia Christiana to reporters, Monday, December 29.
Many of the visitors who want to enjoy the show at the Planetarium are nostalgic. Many are curious because they have never visited the Planetarium. Not only Jakarta, visitors from out of town also want to experience watching astronomical visuals.
In order to be more organized, since the reopening of the post-revival, the management opened the sale of Planetarium tickets online through the tiket.com platform with a quota of 150 seats per show.
Meanwhile, tickets sold directly at the Planetarium box office are only prepared for 50 seats per show. Unfortunately, many people immediately go to the planetarium without ordering tickets online first.
"We are appealing to friends who want to visit the planetarium to reserve first via loket.com. This is indeed the condition of the animation is high. There are many who have not got tickets directly," said Anya.
In one day, the Planetarium holds four performances. Each performance takes 45 minutes. Anya reminded the condition inside the Star Theater has a fairly cold temperature.
"We are worried that it is uncomfortable because the air conditioning is cold. Indeed, the temperature should be that way, because the equipment is a bit hot, so the temperature must be 20 degrees. So friends who may feel less strong with the air conditioner, if you can wear a jacket," said Anya.
Meanwhile, the DKI Provincial Government has prepared a special policy in the form of free access for students for the first three months. Special Staff for Social Communication of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Chico Hakim, said that the policy was aimed at encouraging student and school visits to the Planetarium as part of learning outside the classroom.
"There is a special policy from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in the form of free access for students for the first three months, by showing a student card or KJP," Chico told reporters.
In addition to individual visits, the DKI Provincial Government also opens the opportunity for school groups to arrange special schedules with the Planetarium management. Chico said that students are the main segment targeted in the reopening of the Jakarta Planetarium. However, this facility is also open to various groups of people with a ticket price of Rp. 10 thousand per person for one show.
"The main target is students, students, the science community, families, and the general public. Especially students are the main priority, considering the role of the planetarium as an inclusive public education facility," said Chico.
In addition, the Planetarium is also equipped with digital guide innovations based on artificial intelligence and updates to supporting facilities.
"There is also an interactive AI Virtual Host innovation to provide explanations about astronomy and the history of the planetarium. Supporting facilities such as air-conditioned waiting areas, ample parking, and educational spaces have also been updated for visitor convenience," explained Chico.
