NATUNA - The Natuna Search and Rescue Office (SAR), Riau Islands Province, received one unit of Rigid Buoyancy Boat (RBB) or fast boat from Basarnas RI to strengthen humanitarian services in the form of search and rescue in the border area.

Head of the Natuna SAR Office, Abdul Rahman, in Natuna, Thursday, said the fast boat was given to support and facilitate the implementation of SAR operations in the Natuna SAR Office working area, which includes Natuna Regency and Anambas Islands Regency.

"Alhamdulillah, we have received one unit of the main sea equipment (alut) in the form of a Rigid Buoyancy Boat. This ship will be used to strengthen the implementation of SAR operations in our work area," said Abdul Rahman.

The RBB arrived in Natuna via sea route on Wednesday (24/12). The ship is designed to be able to move quickly and maneuver well in open waters, so it is considered effective to use in emergency situations.

The RBB has a specification of 12.8 meters in length, 3.8 meters in width, and a deck height of 1.3 meters. The ship is equipped with a 2x300 horsepower (HP) propulsion engine and can carry up to eight people.

According to Abdul Rahman, the addition of this RBB fleet is part of Basarnas' efforts to improve preparedness and personnel capabilities to face various potential emergencies at sea.

"We will continue to strive to improve the capabilities and readiness of facilities and human resources so that we can provide fast, accurate, and maximum search and rescue services to the public," he said.
