JAKARTA - Climate activist Greta Thunberg was arrested while demonstrating in the UK to support Palestinian Action prisoners on hunger strike in prison.

Greta Thunberg has been arrested in central London during a demonstration. In a video shared by Prisoners for Palestine, Thunberg (22) is seen holding a board that reads "I support the Palestine Action prisoners. I oppose genocide" at a protest group demonstration outside the Aspen Insurance headquarters in London, launching The National (23/12).

The group claimed they targeted the company on Tuesday morning for providing services to a defense company linked to Israel, Elbit Systems.

Two activists sprayed red paint on the front of the building before police arrived and made an arrest.

A London City Police spokesman said: "At around 7am this morning, a hammer and red paint were used to damage a building on Fenchurch Street."

"A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of vandalism. They stuck near the scene and special officers are trying to free them and take them into police custody," he continued.

"A short while later, a 22-year-old woman (Greta) also came to the scene. She has been arrested for displaying an item (in this case a plaque) in support of a banned organization (in this case Palestine Action) contrary to Article 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000."

Quoted from Middle East Eye, Palestine Action has been banned by the British government since July. Hundreds of people in the UK have been arrested since then for expressing support for the group.

The action was also carried out as a form of solidarity with the six prisoners who had gone on hunger strike due to the treatment they received and the ban on Palestine Action.

The first two prisoners to join the hunger strike have now entered the 52nd day - at a critical stage where there is a risk of death.

It is known that the hunger strikers are demanding immediate release, the cessation of the UK's role as host of a weapons factory that supplies weapons to Israel, and the cessation of what they call the mistreatment of prisoners.

They also demanded the revocation of the ban on Palestine Action as a terrorist organization.
