JAKARTA - The suspect in the illegal abortion case who opened a practice at the Bassura Apartment, Cipinang Besar, East Jakarta, is known to have no medical background. The suspect has been running the illegal practice for 3 years

"The perpetrator, sister NS, claimed to be a doctor, only a high school graduate but she had been an assistant. Maybe she used to practice illegal abortions too," said Dirreskrimsus of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Edy Suranta Sitepu, at a press conference at the Mapolda Metro Jaya, South Jakarta, Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

In fact, from the results of the investigation, NS is not competent in the field of obgyn (obstetrics and gynecology). However, because the suspect has a relationship, and invites his colleagues to carry out this practice, it is a syndicate of illegal abortions.

"Then their relationship is a cooperative relationship, which means that they are a syndicate," he said.

Edy explained that the suspects practiced by moving. Before finding the suspects at the Bassura Apartment, the police officers, this syndicate practiced at the Sayana Apartment in Kota Bekasi, West Java.

They rent daily or weekly apartments when there are patients who want to have an abortion.

"So it's not renting the apartment for a long time, but maybe 1 day, 2 days, depending on the number of patients," said Edy.
