JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Market Traders Association (DPW IKAPPI) expressed concern over the fire that hit Los Buah C2 Kramat Jati Market.

This event has a direct impact on around 350 business establishments of traders who have been an important part of the fruit distribution chain in Jakarta and its surroundings.

Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPW IKAPPI, Miftahudin, assessed that the fire at the main market could not be seen as a normal incident. The Kramat Jati Central Market operates every day and holds a strategic role in maintaining the supply of food commodities, especially fruits, for the capital's needs.

"Kramat Jati Central Market is a fruit distribution center that operates every day and has a strategic role in maintaining the smooth supply of commodities to the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings. Therefore, post-fire handling needs to be carried out quickly, measured, and coordinated," said Miftahudin in his statement, Tuesday, December 16.

IKAPPI urges that the post-fire recovery process does not drag on. According to Miftahudin, the rehabilitation and renovation of the affected area must be accelerated so that traders can return to selling and distribution activities are not disrupted for too long.

In addition, IKAPPI also highlighted the importance of clarity of the cause of the fire. The technical examination by the Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor) is considered to be urgently completed as the basis for further handling.

"We expect an acceleration of the technical examination process by Puslabfor, in order to obtain clarity on the cause of the fire and become the basis for further handling steps," said Miftahudin.

IKAPPI also emphasized that assistance from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to affected traders should be targeted. Data collection on traders, said Miftahudin, must refer to valid data held by market managers, namely Perumda Pasar Jaya.

Not only recovery, IKAPPI asked for a thorough evaluation of the fire prevention system at the Kramat Jati Central Market. Cross-party coordination is considered necessary to strengthen so that similar incidents do not recur.

"Encourage evaluation and strengthening of the fire prevention system through coordination between market managers, police officers, and the Fire Department, including the provision and equalization of light fire extinguishers (APAR) at vulnerable points, to prevent similar incidents in the future," said Miftahudin.
