PIDIE JAYA, ACEH - The LKC team has again held a Healthy Service Action (ALS) in Gampong Beuringen, Meurah Dua District, Pidie Jaya Regency, one of the areas that suffered quite severe damage. Many residents were forced to evacuate to emergency posts because their houses were submerged in mud and damaged by flash floods.

While the Dompet Dhuafa Disaster Management Center (DMC) Team and residents were busy cooking in the communal kitchen for the food needs of survivors, the Dompet Dhuafa Aceh LKC provided free health screening and treatment services. Hundreds of residents took advantage of this service, especially those who suffered from post-disaster health complaints.

Nurul Fuady, Coordinator of the Healthy Services Action of Dompet Dhuafa Aceh RDK, explained that some refugees began to complain of stomach pain, headaches, and itching through a release on Saturday, (13/12).

"Some residents have started to feel the symptoms, possibly due to the sanitation conditions that are not optimal at the evacuation site," he said.

Therefore, Nurul Fuady appealed to the refugees to keep themselves and the environment around the refugee post clean so as not to cause new health problems.

At the same time, Dompet Dhuafa together with Marcella Zalianty, Chairperson of PARFI 56, also distributed dozens of hygiene kits containing personal hygiene equipment to the refugees. This effort was carried out as additional support to maintain the health and comfort of residents during the recovery period.

Dompet Dhuafa's health services and disaster response in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra will continue.
