JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to hold urgent talks on Thursday with leaders and officials from around 30 countries supporting Kyiv's efforts to obtain fair requirements to end the war with Russia.

Leaders of Germany, Britain and France are among those expected to be trapped in a meeting of Ukrainian allies, called the Sukarelawan Coalition, via teleconference.

Zelenskyy indicated the talks were set to be "hurry" as Kyiv officials sought to avoid being caught up by US President Donald Trump's demands for a quick settlement.

The European government is trying to help direct peace negotiations as they say their own security is at stake.

Trump said on Wednesday he and European leaders discussed proposals by telephone with "a fairly firm term."

Trump called Zelenskyy "must be realistic" about his country's position on a peace plan that would hand over Ukrainian territory to Russia. He gave no further explanation.

Trump's latest effort to mediate the settlement took longer than he wanted.

Initially, he set a tight deadline for Kyiv to accept his peace plan before Thanksgiving.

Washington's previous deadline for reaching a peace agreement has also passed without any breakthroughs.

Russia also wants to show Trump they are involved in its peace efforts, in hopes of avoiding further US sanctions.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday Russia had conveyed to Washington "an additional proposal on collective security guarantees" that Ukraine and Europe said were needed to prevent future aggression.

"We understand that when discussing security guarantees, we can't limit ourselves to Ukraine alone," Lavrov said.

He did not provide details of the Kremlin's proposal.

Meanwhile, Ukraine launched one of the largest drone attacks in a war that lasted nearly four years last night, forcing flights in and out of all four Moscow airports to be suspended for seven hours. Airports in eight other cities across Russia also face restrictions, Russia's civil aviation authority Rosaviatsia said on Thursday.
