JAKARTA - A total of 182 illegal Israeli settlers reportedly broke into the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied East Jerusalem on Tuesday, December 9, according to Palestinian authorities.

Jerusalem's governorship said the settlers entered the sensitive area in the morning and evening with Israeli police protection.

Reporting from Anadolu, Wednesday, December 9, settlers are also known to perform the Talmud ritual near the Batu Dome.

In addition, Palestinian authorities noted that 778 foreign tourists also entered the Al-Aqsa complex through gates operated by Israeli authorities.

Official data shows as many as 4,266 illegal settlers and about 15,000 foreign tourists entered the mosque complex throughout November.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site for Muslims. Meanwhile, Jews called the area the Holy Bait Hill, which was believed to be the location of two Jewish temples in the past.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem, where the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been, since the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, and annexed the entire city in 1980 an act that until now has not been recognized by the international community.
