Police Chief Seen as Consistent on Transparency, Reform Showing Positive Progress

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Greater Indonesia Youth Front (FPIR), Fauzan Ohorella, expressed his appreciation to the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo for his commitment to strengthening the disclosure of public information as mandated by Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure.

This statement was made in response to an audience between the National Police Chief and the Central Information Commission (KIP), which reaffirmed the mandate of KIP as the agency in charge of organizing, supervising, and handling disputes related to public information disclosure.

During the meeting, General Sigit stated that the National Police continued to improve transparency and improve information services to the public.

"The National Police is an institution that is always open and continues to make improvements, so that we can really provide public information disclosure according to the expected standards," said General Sigit last week.

Fauzan assessed that the meeting between the National Police and KIP was proof of the National Police Chief's commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability of police institutions in providing information to the public.

"The statement from the National Police Chief confirms that the National Police respects the authority of KIP as an official institution in resolving public information disputes. This is proof that the National Police continues to move towards public services that are more open, professional, and accountable," said Fauzan, Tuesday, December 8.

He added that public information disclosure is an important pillar in strengthening democracy as well as building public trust in police institutions.

"We from FPIR appreciate the commitment of the National Police Chief which not only emphasizes transparency, but also consistently makes continuous improvements. This is in line with the public's expectations of a more open, modern, and responsive police institution," he continued.

Fauzan emphasized that FPIR will continue to support the steps taken by the National Police in strengthening public services and ensuring that the public has clear, open, and in accordance with statutory provisions.

"We think this is a tangible manifestation of General Sigit carrying out the task of reforming the National Police and strengthening democracy, by ensuring that the National Police institution continues to make improvements in serving the community," he said.
