JAKARTA - The DPR ratified the Draft Law on Criminal Adjustments in a plenary meeting today.

The ratification of this bill was taken after previously being discussed by Commission III of the DPR together with the Ministry of Law to fill the vacancy of regulations before the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code take effect from January 2, 2026.

"It is time for us to seek approval from the factions regarding whether the Criminal Adjustment Bill can be approved and passed into law?", said Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, chairman of the session, Monday, December 8.

Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas said the Criminal Adjustment Law was needed to prepare Indonesia to enter a new era of the national criminal system.

"(The Criminal Adjustment Bill) Is a draft law needed to prepare Indonesia to enter a new era of the national criminal system in line with Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code," Supratman said when conveying the government's final view.
