JAKARTA - Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Arif Satria encouraged the Eka Karya Bali Botanical Gardens in Tabanan Regency to become an excellent liver who is expected to be able to strengthen research and education in the field of Indonesian biodiversity.

According to Arif, the construction lab is becoming a global trend, because it is able to present a real ecosystem-based research area. With an area of about 120 hectares, the Bali Botanical Gardens have great potential for the development of biological research, ecology, forestry, and various other scientific disciplines.

"We want to make all the surviving labBRIN a research excellence center according to the field," said Arif in a statement in Jakarta, Saturday.

Apart from being a research center, continued Arif, the Bali Botanical Gardens also have a strategic role in public education. The existence of a collection of rare and historic plants can inspire children, students, and the wider community to love the world of flora.

"Because this Botanical Garden is rich in rare plants, rich in historical plants. So, this encourages children's love for the Botanical Gardens," said Arif.

Currently, he said, BRIN is partnering to manage botanical gardens throughout Indonesia. Arif hopes that the collaboration that has been built can continue to prioritize research as a top priority.

"Therefore, the Bali Botanical Gardens must be managed, especially since we have partnered. So we continue to hope that this partnership is balanced between the interests of education, business, and most important research," said Arif.

The Head of BRIN was present at the Bali Botanical Gardens on Friday (5/12) to see firsthand the facilities and had a dialogue with BRIN researchers.

Dari dialog tersebut, Arif menyebut aspirasi peneliti di Kebun Raya Bali juga sejalan dengan masukan peneliti BRIN di berbagai daerah.

"We have understood these issues and we have prepared the solution steps in stages," said Arief.
