Determination Of Acting Chairman Of PBNU Discussed In Plenary On December 9, 2025

JAKARTA - The Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board will hold a plenary meeting on December 9, 2025. One of the agendas is to discuss the appointment of the Acting (Pj) Chairman of PBNU.

"God willing. One of the agendas is the determination of the Acting Chairman of PBNU," said PBNU Chairman Prof. Moh. Mukri through a statement in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, December 5.

Mukri explained that the meeting which was scheduled to be attended in full by all elements of the PBNU management, namely Mustasyar, Awan, Syuriyah, Tanfidziyah, as well as all leaders of PBNU institutions and autonomous bodies, were constitutional forums that were important to ensure the continuity of PBNU leadership in accordance with organizational regulations.

On this occasion, he emphasized that the decision of the PBNU Sharia to dismiss KH Yahya Cholil Staquf from the position of chairman was a final and binding decision. The upcoming plenary meeting will be part of the follow-up to the organizational mechanism in accordance with the mandate of the PBNU Sharia.

Mukri appealed to all nahdliyin residents to remain calm, maintain ukhuah, and follow the official information issued by PBNU so as not to be influenced by speculation that is developing in public spaces.

Furthermore, the Bhindereh Nusantara Forum (Forbhinu) emphasized full support for the steps taken by the PBNU Syuriah ranks in responding to the internal dynamics that are currently taking place in the PBNU body.

Secretary General (Sekjen) Forbhinu Ahrori Dhofir emphasized that Syuriyah PBNU is the highest institution given the mandate and authority by the Nahdlatul Ulama organization.

Therefore, Syuriah's decision is final and cannot be intervened by any party.

"If Syuriyah's decision is inconsistent, it will set a bad precedent for the wheels of the Jamiyah Nahdlatul Ulama organization. Therefore, Syuriyah's authority must be maintained and respected by all parties," he said.

Ahrori stated that Forbhinu fully supports the decision of Syuriyah PBNU, including the plan to announce the Acting Chairman of PBNU to be delivered in the near future.

He appealed to all kiai and ulama of NU administrators at all levels to always obey and comply with the PBNU Sharia decision in order to maintain the dignity of the organization, as well as invite the caretakers of Islamic boarding schools to provide enlightenment to the community and help oversee the decision of the PBNU Sharia so that unnecessary noise does not occur.

"In a situation like this, calm, obedience, and togetherness are the keys. Let's leave organizational affairs to the scholars who have been given the mandate, while continuing to maintain ukhuwah and ask for protection from Allah SWT," said Ahrori Dhofir.
