JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that the DKI Provincial Government next year will continue the construction of a giant sea embankment or Giant Sea Wall which is included in the National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) project.

The plan is that in 2026, the DKI Provincial Government will continue to build embankments in the Pluit, Muara Angke, and Blencong River areas with a length of 1.2 kilometers.

"In 2026, we have budgeted to continue NCICD for Pluit with a length of 530 meters, Muara Angke 350 meters, Kali Lencong 750 meters. Next year approximately 1.2 kilometers," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, December 4.

In addition to the DKI Provincial Government, some of the construction of Giant Sea Wall is also carried out by the central government, in this case the Ministry of Public Works.

Pramono hopes that the central government will immediately execute the part that is his responsibility in building the embankment. This is because this embankment is needed to minimize the impact of tidal flooding that often hit the coastal area of Jakarta.

"Hopefully, the central government's responsibility will also be carried out immediately. Because this is already urgent to be done immediately," said Pramono.

In NCICD planning, the DKI Provincial Government has an obligation to build a 28.2 kilometer sea embankment, the DKI Provincial Government has only completed 11.8 kilometers. "What has not been built is 19 kilometers," he continued.

Gradually, the DKI Provincial Government has built an NCICD embankment in the 1.2 kilometer Ancol area throughout 2025. In addition, the Provincial Government is also working on other mitigation embankments in Muara Angke along the 1.1 kilometer and in the Pluit Bywalk area with a length of 400 meters from the 600 meter target.

"That's what we did, because after all this is happening right now. Starting from yesterday, today, and tomorrow the 5th peak of the tidal wave is the 5th, and after that it will decrease," said Pramono.

In tackling tidal flooding that has inundated dozens of RTs in North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands on Thursday, December 4 today, the DKI Provincial Government is dredging the Muara Angke Reservoir, adding mobile pumps, and draining waterways.

"We are preparing existing pumps. Now that pump is moving, there are approximately 600 pumps that we are preparing in those places. Including when the tidal wave went up yesterday, people are worried that it will be at Muara Angke, it can be seen then we have prepared the pump to overcome it," he explained.
