KPK Chairman Alludes To Political Decisions On Rehabilitation Of Ira Puspadewi: Formil-Materil There Is A Decision

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto spoke about granting rehabilitation to former Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), Ira Puspadewi and two other former directors by President Pravowo Subianto. He mentioned that there was a political decision because formal and material affairs had been tested in court.

This was conveyed by Setyo who admitted that he was initially late in receiving information regarding the rehabilitation of Ira Puspadewi et al last week. At that time, he immediately asked for an explanation from the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu.

"The response is certain after that I tried to find information from my fellow leadership, from the Deputy for Enforcement," said Setyo, starting his statement quoted on Thursday, December 4.

"But in general I say that this is a different problem between issues formally, then materially, and politically decided," he continued.

Setyo explained that the formal affairs had actually been tested through a pretrial hearing at the South Jakarta District Court (PN). Meanwhile, the actions of Ira and two former directors have also been decided at the Jakarta Corruption Court.

"Well, then there is a decision or there is a policy to carry out rehabilitation, this is everything, of course different," he said.

Moreover, Setyo believes that investigators and public prosecutors in the corruption case of business cooperation (KSU) and the acquisition of PT Jembatan Nusantara by PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) have worked professionally. "Everything can be accounted for from the start," he said, who has also served as Director of KPK Investigations.

As previously reported, President Prabowo Subianto signed the granting of rehabilitation for three parties involved in the legal case of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry. They are Ira Puspadewi as former Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry; former Director of Planning and Development of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, Harry Muhammad Adhi Caksono; and former Commercial and Service Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, Yusuf Hadi.

The decision was conveyed by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad in a press statement with Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya at the Presidential office, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 25.

"From the results of communication with the government, thank God there are today, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto has signed a letter of rehabilitation for the three names," he said.

Ira Puspadewi et al are known to have been found guilty in the corruption case of the acquisition and business cooperation (KSU) of PT Jembatan Nusantara by PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry. He was later sentenced to 4.5 years and a fine of IDR 500 million by the Jakarta Corruption Court.

Meanwhile, the former Director of Planning and Development of PT ASDP, Harry Muhammad Adhi Caksono, and former Director of Commercial and Services of PT ASDP, Muhammad Yusuf Hadi was sentenced to 4 years and a fine of Rp250 million. They were found guilty and committed corruption together as the second alternative indictment Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999.

Even so, the three of them did not serve the sentence as handed down. Ira Puspadewi et al are known to have been released from detention since Friday, November 28.

After being released, he had time to express his gratitude to a number of parties. Including President Prabowo Subianto to the DPR RI.

"We express our highest gratitude and appreciation to Mr. President Prabowo Subianto who is willing to exercise his privilege by rehabilitating in our case," Ira told reporters after leaving the KPK detention center.

"We express our highest gratitude to the leadership of the DPR, in this case represented by Sufmi Dasco Ahmad," he continued.
