KPK Hopes Calculation Of State Losses In Corruption Cases Hajj Quota Will Be Completed At The End Of The Year

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) hopes that the calculation of state losses in the corruption case of distributing quotas and organizing Hajj in 2023-2024 at the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) will be completed by the end of this year.

This was conveyed by the acting (Plt) Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu when confirmed the news of the calculation of state losses in this case was promised to be completed in December. Although he has not heard the information, he hopes that the process carried out by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) can be completed soon.

"Alhamdulillah, if there is information. Hopefully the information is correct," Asep told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, quoted on Tuesday, December 2.

Meanwhile, when asked about the determination of the suspect, he was still waiting for the process of calculating state losses, Asep did not want much comment. He asked the public to wait.

"Then will it be announced (the suspect in the corruption case of distributing quotas and organizing Hajj, ed)? We'll wait," he said.

"Alhamdulillah, if the information can be completed. If possible in December, that's it. Hopefully the information is correct. There is no information to us yet," continued Asep, who also serves as Director of KPK Investigations.

As for this case, the anti-corruption commission has examined hundreds of travel agencies or travel agents for special Hajj organizers (PIHK) in a number of areas. Then, investigators have left for Saudi Arabia to the Indonesian Embassy to the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj to ask for data.

Investigators are still there, but some data is said to have been pocketed.

Previously reported, the KPK is investigating allegations of corruption related to quotas and the implementation of Hajj in 2023-2024 at the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag). No suspects have been named for using a general investigation warrant (sprindik).

The general Sprindik uses Article 2 Paragraph 1 and/or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2021 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code. This means that there are state losses that occur due to this corrupt practice.

State losses in the corruption case of quota and Hajj for the period 2023-2024 are said to have reached more than IDR 1 trillion. This number is still increasing because it is only the initial calculation of the KPK which continues to coordinate with the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).

During the investigation process, a number of parties have been questioned, including Yaqut Cholil Qoumas. Investigators have also searched his house and found documents and electronic evidence that are suspected to be related.
