Semarang City Wins Semarang Healthy City Award Swastiaba Wiwerda

SEMARANG Towards the end of the year, Semarang City continues to make proud achievements in the national arena by winning a prestigious award. After winning the Harmony Award from the Ministry of Religion, on the same day Semarang City also won awards in the health sector. This time, the capital city of Central Java Province won the Wiwerda Category Healthy City Award in the Award for Healthy Regencies/Cities (Swasti Saba) and the 2025 Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM) Award.

Head of the Semarang City Health Office, M. Abdul Hakam, who represented Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng, witnessed firsthand the peak of the awarding through the official YouTube channel of the Indonesian Ministry of Health on Friday (28/11).

For this achievement, Agustina expressed her gratitude. He called this award a reflection of the commitment of the City Government or Semarang City Government in realizing a healthier, cleaner, and more comfortable environment for the community.

"We are very grateful for the achievement of this Swasti Saba Wiwerda. This means that the commitments and collective efforts that we have made so far have proven to bring results and are recognized nationally. Semarang City continues to move together to create a healthier, more organized, and sustainable city," he said.

The Ministry of Health has conferred Healthy Regencies/Cities with the aim of achieving clean, comfortable, safe, and healthy district/city conditions for residents through the implementation of various integrated health programs that were agreed upon with local governments and the community.

In 2025, the journey of the Healthy City of Semarang is quite competitive. Before becoming one of 42 regencies/cities throughout Indonesia that received the Swasti Saba Wiwerda award, Semarang City had to go through several stages.

After passing the administrative selection, Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng together with Pj. The Regional Secretary and his staff followed the verification and validation of documents in (19/8) by showing policy consistency, cross-sectoral support, and real achievements that have been felt by the community through the implementation of nine healthy city arrangements that have been running in Semarang City.

The next stage is to accompany the national verification team to carry out field verification (2324/9) in fifteen Health City locuss which describes the diversity of programs and implementations in the field. Starting from the order of life of a healthy and independent society at Daycare Rumah Pelita and Rumah Sigap; disaster preparedness in Gajahmungkur Disaster Resilient Village and the East BKT Early Warning System (EWS); education arrangements at SMPN 39 and Semarang State University; to supporting facilities such as Taman Indonesia Kaya, Pamsimas Kedungmundu, Resik Sejahtera Waste Bank, Mini Pakuwon Nutrition Home, Gunungpati Terminal, Stemcell Hospital, Jawi Village, PT Mas Silueta Indonesia, and BSB Modern Market.

This award shows that Semarang City has succeeded in developing and implementing the Healthy City program by paying attention to urban elements that must be built or become a supporter of better health conditions than its citizens. Starting from settlements, transportation, workplaces, tourist attractions, and active participation from the community to live a healthy life.

The mayor also emphasized the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration in this success. "This achievement is of course the fruit of the joint work of all elements of the government and society. A Healthy City cannot be realized without the togetherness and commitment of all of us," he said.

The achievement of the Healthy City award in the Wierda category is expected to be a momentum for Semarang City to continue to improve the quality of environmental health-based services and development.

The Semarang City Government is committed to maintaining program sustainability and expanding innovations that have a direct impact on the quality of life of the community so that the spirit of Semarang City as a healthy, resilient, and inclusive city can be maintained in the years to come.
