JAKARTA - Emirates airlines will install Starlink internet services across its fleet starting this month, increasing its wide-body jets with free super fast Wi-Fi in all aircraft cabins.

The airline started Starlink services with commercial Boeing 777 flights on November 23, before completing a full program in mid-2027 for all 232 wide-body Boeing and Airbus aircraft, the company said at its Dubai Airshow 2025.

Emirates will equip about 14 planes each month with Starlink, and will also launch the world's first "A380 aircraft equipped with Starlink" starting February 2026.

The partnership with Starlink is another "important moment" in supporting customers, said Emirates President Tim Clark.

"We introduce the fastest Wi-Fi in the world, increasing what passengers can expect from in-plane connectivity, such as smooth productivity, real-time communications with loved ones, and uninterrupted connections to their digital lives," he said, quoted from The National November 25.

The world's largest international airline, which offers a variety of premium offerings, invested $5 billion to renovate its Boeing and Airbus jets that Starlink's connectivity will be installed.

"We are trying to provide consistency," Clark said. "While other airlines offer a variety of confusing products in diverse fleets, we want all of our customers to be able to enjoy Emirates' best products, not just on certain routes or types of aircraft. That's why we invest massively in our retrofitting program," he said.

Starlink services come as Emirates continues to invest heavily in its in-plane products, adding superior offerings such as lounges on A380 aircraft and first-class bathrooms.

Although the UAE has not announced regulatory approval or agreements for satellite operators such as Starlink to start operations in the country, the airline said Starlink services would begin as soon as take-off.

"This free and ultra-fast service provides land quality internet at cruising altitudes," the company said.

Starlink is available in several parts of the Middle East, including Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, and Jordan. The service will also be available in Lebanon after the government granted licenses to the satellite network in September.

Earlier, Qatar Airways became the first airline in the Middle East to introduce Starlink on board, when it launched the service in October 2024 on its Boeing 777 and has started updating its Airbus A350 jet.

With Starlink services, Emirates passengers can stream content, play games, call, work and explore social media during flights either through screens on armchair or private devices simultaneously. This one-click access is free and requires no Skywards membership.
