JAKARTA - The Supreme Court (MA) rejected the appeal of businessman Hendry Lie in the corruption case of managing tin commodity trading in the mining business permit (IUP) area of PT Timah Tbk so that the sentence remains 14 years in prison.
"Rejecting the defendant's cassation request," reads the verdict of case number 11312 K/PID.SUS/2025, as seen on the Supreme Court Case Information page, quoted by Antara, Friday, November 28.
The cassation decision was echoed by Supreme Court Justice Haryadi along with two members, Arizon Mega Jaya and Yanto, on Tuesday (25/11). Currently, the status of the case is being mitigated by the panel of judges.
With the rejection of the appeal, the verdict against Hendry Lie remains the same as the appeal court's decision.
Previously, the DKI Jakarta High Court sentenced Hendy Lie to 14 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.
The appeal panel of judges also sentenced Hendry Lie to an additional penalty in the form of payment of replacement money in the amount of Rp1,052,577,589,599.19 (Rp1.5 trillion) subsidiary to eight years in prison.
In this case, Hendry Lie was charged with receiving Rp1.06 trillion in cash, through PT Tinindo Internusa, from payment for the purchase of illegal tin ore through the wholesale transportation of the remaining processing results (SHP), the smelter rental, and the main production price (HPP) of PT Timah.
For his actions together with the defendants and other convicts, Hendry Lie is suspected of causing state losses of Rp. 300 trillion.
Hendry Lie was charged with being the majority shareholder of PT Tinindo Internusa, who initially ordered General Manager of Operations of PT Tinindo Internusa Rosalina and Marketing of PT Tinindo Internusa in 2008 '2018 Fandy Lingga to create and sign a PT Tinindo Internusa Offering Letter regarding the offer of tin processing equipment rental cooperation (processing) to PT Timah.
