MANADO - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon emphasized that the Cultural Preservation Center (BPK) of the XVII Region should no longer function as a service office. During his working visit to Manado on Wednesday, November 26, Fadli asked the XVII BPK to be opened as a living space for the cultural community, places to gather, discuss, and develop a cultural promotion program in North Sulawesi.

After reviewing the renovation of the North Sulawesi Provincial Museum, Fadli said that the BPK has a strategic position as the closest node to the community and cultural actors. Therefore, according to him, the hall must be a space for inclusive cultural interactions. Development of Culture must continue to be open and become a gathering space for an inclusive cultural community. This is where innovation, collaboration, and cultural movements can grow," he said.

Fadli assessed that the opening of community access to BPK XVII would strengthen the regional cultural ecosystem, accelerate the dissemination of cultural programs, and create cross-sectoral cooperation. He also appreciated the program that had been run by BPK XVII and encouraged increased institutional capacity to be closer to the community.

North Sulawesi Governor Yulius Selvanus expressed the full support of the local government for strengthening the role of BPK XVII as the center of cultural activities. The ranks of BPK Region XVII also emphasized their commitment to strengthening the duties and functions of the hall through standardization, increasing human resources, and program collaboration.

The visit was also attended by the Head of the North Sulawesi Culture Service Yanni Lukas, the Special Staff of the Minister of Culture Rachmanda Primayuda, and the Director of History and Summary Agus Mulyana.
