Today's Weather, Thunderstorms And Rob Floods Potentially Occur In Several Areas

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded the public to be aware of the potential for maximum hot weather, driven rain, and tidal flooding in a number of areas on Thursday, November 20.

BMKG weather forecaster Ranti Kurniati in an online broadcast that was followed in Jakarta, said that the potential for light intensity rain is predicted to flush the cities of Banda Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, Bengkulu, Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang Surabaya, Mataram, Palangka Raya, Samarinda, Gorontalo, Makassar, Kendari, Ambon, Sorong, Manokwari, Nabire, Jayawijaya, Jayapura, and Merauke.

Rain is currently potentially in Ternate City. Meanwhile, rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to occur in the cities of Padang, Tanjung Pinang, Jambi, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, Bandar Lampung, Yogyakarta, Pontianak, Tanjung Selor, Banjarmasin, Mamuju, and Manado.

Furthermore, in Denpasar City, and Kupang are expected to be thick to foggy.

BMKG also reported, in the same period, the maximum heat temperature up to 33 degrees Celsius is expected to occur during the day in a number of areas in Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, Pontianak, Samarinda, Tanjung Selor, Palangka Raya, Banjarmasin.

BMKG also detected the potential for tidal flooding on the coasts of Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bangka Belitung, Banten, north of Jakarta, West Java, East Java, Bali, NTB, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and North Sulawesi.

Ranti explained that the weather conditions were influenced by a number of atmospheric dynamics and locality factors which included cyclonic circulation also in the Indian Ocean south of West Java, Natuna sea, northern Pacific Ocean of Papua. There are also observed in the waters of Lampung, East Kalimantan and Central Papua to most of the Sumatran and Javanese seas.

Furthermore, the seeds of Tropical Cyclone FINA in the waters of Arafuru south of Tanimbar Island are estimated to increase with wind speeds of 60 knots (category two) which form a wind speed slowdown area of up to 25 knots in the Arafuru Sea, Banda, Maluku, Aru Island.
