Roy Suryo To Refly Harun Walk Out From The Police Reform Commission Audience, This Is Jimly's Explanation

JAKARTA - The National Police's Reform Acceleration Commission provides explanations regarding the issuance of Roy Suryo, Rismon Sianipar, Tifauzia Tyassuma, Refly Harun, and a number of other people from the joint hearing with the commission on Wednesday, November 19.

The chairman of the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission, Jimly Asshiddiqie, explained that his commission received a letter requesting an audience from Refly Harun and his colleagues. However, the list of names present did not match the names listed in the letter.

"The list of names after being confirmed yesterday, there are names with suspect status," said Jimly at the PTIK-STIK Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 19.

For information, Roy Suryo, Rismon Sianipar, and Tifauzia Tyassuma were named suspects in the case of alleged fake diplomas of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo.

Jimly said the commission immediately held a lightning meeting on Tuesday, November 18, and decided not to accept people with suspect status in order to maintain ethics and respect the ongoing legal process.

"We have to respect the legal process. It has not been proven that he is wrong, but we also have to hold ethics. So, the conclusion is that we should just adjust it to the letter," he said.

On Wednesday morning, the figures then opted out of the audience.

Refly Harun explained that he was the first to contact Jimly to file an audience application regarding the determination of the suspect in the fake diploma case of Jokowi.

He sent a letter according to a request from Jimly's staff, without including the names Roy Suryo, Rismon, and Tifauzia.

"Indeed, at that time the names included in the letter were of course minus RRT (Roy, Rismon, Tifa) because the RRT was preparation," said Refly.

Refly admitted that he had asked Jimly for permission to bring the three, and Jimly agreed. However, on Tuesday night, Jimly said that the three figures were not allowed to attend because they were suspects.

"I deliberately didn't tell them (RRT) because I thought, this is what I think. This is an aspirational institution. Is it okay to punish people yet? The suspect's status is not yet guilty," he said.

During the hearing, the Commission gave the option for the three suspects to sit in the back without talking or leaving the room. In the end, they chose to leave.

"Before we entered, we were in solidarity. If the RRT came out, we also came out," said Refly.
