BMKG Warns Of Lightning Potential In A Number Of Cities, Rain Is Even In Many Areas

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts light to moderate rain will hit most parts of Indonesia on Wednesday, November 19, including the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in a number of major cities.

Reported by Antara, Wednesday morning BMKG reminded the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in the cities of Padang and Pangkal Pinang which the public needs to watch out for.

In addition, Palembang is forecasted to be foggy, Jambi and Bengkulu have the potential for light rain, while Bandar Lampung has moderate rain.

On the island of Java, rain is estimated to be evenly distributed with light intensity in Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, and Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, Surabaya has the opportunity to experience moderate rain.

For Bali and Nusa Tenggara, the weather conditions are relatively more stable. Denpasar is predicted to be cloudy, thick cloudy Kupang, and Mataram has the potential for light rain.

Wet weather is also predicted to occur on the island of Kalimantan. Light rain has the potential to fall in Palangka Raya, while Banjarmasin is expected to experience moderate rain.

BMKG also warns of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning that can occur in Pontianak, Tanjung Selor, and Samarinda.

In Sulawesi, six major cities, namely Manado, Gorontalo, Palu, Mamuju, Makassar, and Kendari, are predicted to experience light rain.

Meanwhile, in Eastern Indonesia, light rain is predicted to fall in Ternate, Ambon, Manokwari, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya.

Sorong and Merauke have the opportunity to experience moderate rain, while Nabire is one of the cities with the potential for rain accompanied by lightning that should be watched out for.
