Pramono Changes The Name Of The Red Land Area To A Land Of Hope

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung officially changed the name of the Tanah Merah area, North Jakarta, to Tanah Harapan. This naming is stipulated in Governor's Decree Number 973 of 2025.

Pramono's change of name for this region is carried out as a momentum for structuring old areas that for years have been in the midst of uncertainty in status and lack of basic services from the government.

"Today I officially inaugurate the Tanah Harapan Village in North Jakarta, whose name used to be Tanah Merah, now the Village of Tanah Harapan and the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta are committed to being present as a whole, fully, and providing the best possible facilities for this Kampung Tanah Harapan," said Pramono at the location, Tuesday, November 18.

Pramono emphasized that changing the name of Tanah Merah to Tanah Harapan is not just a symbol, but an affirmation of equality of rights and the presence of government services in areas that are often marginalized.

"In the past, people in Tanah Merah were always mentioned at that time. They were hesitant about their identity, with all their requirements to become validity," he said.

This name change is also accompanied by the full opening of access to social services. Government assistance that previously could not be distributed thoroughly can now be provided without administrative restrictions.

Therefore, the old problems in the area that have been plagued by land status issues and administrative identity can obtain the same certainty as other regions can be resolved immediately.

"So that matters related to social assistance owned by the DKI Jakarta Government can now be fully carried out here, including KJP, KJMU, then bleaching diplomas, legal assistance posts, the establishment of the Red and White Cooperative, and so on, "explained Pramono.

"For that, there is no need for changes or new administrative completeness. Everything is the same," he continued.

Tanah Harapan consists of 6 RWs which are divided into three urban villages and two sub-districts. Some areas have not been touched by physical development for years. Pramono said that the improvement of basic infrastructure will be prioritized starting in 2026.

"There are 3 RWs whose construction has never been touched so far and for that we will prioritize in 2026 to repair waterways, rearrange roads, provide signs of gate gates, and so on, and so on," he said.

The government also encourages the acceleration of the provision of clean water, one of the main problems of residents. He added that a number of other assistance such as APAR, MSME support, and CCTV installation will also be rolled out.

Pramono instructed the ranks below to immediately move. He emphasized that waterway arrangements and road access need to be carried out immediately considering that the area is often hit by floods.

"I have asked the Development Assistant, Assistant Government to immediately prepare, improve, including matters related to water channel arrangement because here are places that often flood, roads, then also legal aid posts, and others," he said.

For information, Tanah Harapan Village includes six RWs spread across three sub-districts and two sub-districts, namely:- RW 08, 09, 10, and 11 in Rawa Badak Selatan Village, Koja District;- RW 07 in Tugu Selatan Village, Koja District;- RW 22 in Kelapa Gading Barat Village, Kelapa Gading District.

The regional arrangement that has been and will be carried out by various regional apparatus and BUMD DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, includes the construction of roads, canals, gates, vertical gardens, PAM networks, lighting lights, and the installation of sheet piles.
