Polda Metro Jaya arrested the perpetrators of a fake Police who tricked an online taxi driver in a house in the Cilodong area, Depok. One car was taken away.

said the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, said that the two perpetrators, who were a married couple with the initials AS and YW, were arrested by the Head of Resmob Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

"Sub-Directorate of Resmob Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya Successfully uncovered a case of theft of cars with fake police mode that occurred in the Cibubur Rest Area, East Jakarta," he said in a written statement, Sunday, November 16, 2025.

Budi said that this case began when the perpetrator first ordered the victim's online motorcycle taxi service last October. From that meeting, communication continued because the two exchanged phone numbers.

"(In his introduction, the US perpetrator claimed to be a member of the police," he said.

Budi said the US victims and perpetrators met again on November 2, 2025. At that time, the perpetrator ordered services offline.

"The perpetrator asked the victim to take him to the hospital because his wife was bleeding," he said.

Without suspicion, the victim came to pick up AS and YS at his house to go to the hospital. However, in the middle of the trip, the US asked to stop at the Cibubur Rest Area. With the excuse of meeting clients, he got out of the car while the victim and YW were still waiting.

Minutes later, the US contacted his wife and ordered the victim to deliver a folder to the meeting location.

"When the victim obeyed, the perpetrator then took advantage of this opportunity, where the victim left the car with the engine on or the key was still hanging, which the perpetrators easily took away," explained Budi.

"So the victim and perpetrator YW are waiting in the car," he continued

After receiving the report, the Resmob team moved to arrest the couple complete with evidence of stolen vehicles. Both are now detained at Polda Metro Jaya.

"For this incident, the perpetrators and evidence were brought to the Metro Jaya Jaya Police, the perpetrators were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code. The threat of punishment is up to nine years in prison," he concluded.
