Indonesia Continues To Coordinate Peacekeeping Plans To Gaza

JAKARTA - Foreign Minister (Menlu) Sugiono said Indonesia continues to coordinate with countries around Palestine, especially Jordan regarding plans to send peacekeepers to Gaza, Palestine.

"We will continue to coordinate with the countries around Palestine, especially Jordan, which we mentioned yesterday the group of New York to determine what the final decision will be," Sugiono said after attending a bilateral meeting with the King of the Kingdom of Hasyimiyah Jordan King Abdullah II Al Hussein at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Friday, November 14.

Sugiono said the Indonesian government would continue to coordinate to finalize diplomatic and technical steps.

"Everything is still in coordination," he said.

He conveyed that King Abdullah II's state visit had a strategic meaning for relations between the two countries.

According to him, relations between the two countries are more than just formal diplomatic, but are also private. Sugiono said President Prabowo Subianto and King Abdullah II had become old friends.

"Both of them are also old friends who since childhood have known each other. Then also when the President was still active in the army, he always carried out military cooperation and exercises with the Kingdom of Jordan," said Sugiono.

Bilateral meetings between Indonesia and Jordan will discuss a number of strategic cooperation in a number of sectors.

In the economic sector, King Abdullah II has been scheduled to visit Danantara Indonesia to discuss more intensive cooperation, including phosphate commodities.

Meanwhile, in the defense and security sectors, Indonesia and Jordan will increase cooperation related to military training.
