The DPR Values The Rehabilitation Of Two Teachers By President Prabowo As A Judiciary Step

JAKARTA - Member of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Indrajaya, appreciates President Prabowo Subianto's decision regarding the rehabilitation of two high school teachers in North Luwu, South Sulawesi, Abdul Muis and Rasnal who were previously dismissed from the status of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN). According to him, President Prabowo's decision is the right and fair step for restoring the rights of teachers who have been revoked.

"The president has shown his side to teachers who are working sincerely for the advancement of national education," said Indrajaya to reporters, Thursday, November 13.

In addition to returning the rights of the two teachers that had been revoked, Indrajaya assessed that the president's decision was also a strong signal that the state was present to protect educators.

"We thank President Prabowo for his attention and concern for the fate of teachers in the regions. This is a clear example that the government does not remain silent when there is injustice to educators," said the PKB legislator from the South Papua electoral district.

Indrajaya emphasized that this rehabilitation decision is an important lesson for local governments (Pemda) to be more careful in making policies that have an impact on the lives of teachers and the community. He reminded regional heads not to arbitrarily fire teachers.

"Local governments must ensure that every policy is in line with the principles of justice and respect for the rights of ASN, especially those who are fighting in the education sector," said the member of the Commission in charge of government affairs in the country.

Indrajaya hopes that this decision will also motivate teachers throughout Indonesia to continue to work hard and make the best contribution to national education. He emphasized that Commission II of the DPR will continue to fight for the rights of teachers and encourage improving the quality of education in Indonesia.

"This Presidential Decree shows that the government is serious about protecting the rights of teachers while at the same time committed to improving their welfare," he concluded.

Previously, Abdul Muis and Rasnal were dismissed as ASN by the Governor of South Sulawesi in August and October 2025. The dismissal was the aftermath of a collection of Rp20,000 from parents in 2018 to help pay the salaries of 10 honorary teachers at their school.

Regarding this issue, President Prabowo gave legal rehabilitation to the two teachers after being found guilty at the cassation level for helping honorary teachers through voluntary donations, and being respectfully dismissed.

This was revealed by the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, together with the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi, after meeting Prabowo at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, Thursday, November 13 in the morning.

"Tonight, after coordinating with the Minister of State Secretary, we took Halim to meet with the President. Alhamdulillah, a letter of rehabilitation was signed to the two people," Dasco said in a YouTube broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat.

Through a newly issued rehabilitation decision, both of them can now regain their rights as ASN and educators.

This step is a follow-up to the clemency request submitted by PGRI North Luwu, as well as a clear proof of President Prabowo's commitment to protect teachers who work with high dedication for the advancement of national education.
