DENPASAR A man was killed by a truck that allegedly suffered a failed brake on Jalan Raya Uluwatu, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Tuesday, November 11 at around 13.00 WITA.
Head of the Public Relations Section of the Denpasar Police, AKP Ketut Sukadi, quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 13, said the victim with the initials DS was known to be a truck driver. At the time of the incident, DS was delivering gas to customers around the location.
The incident began when an Isuzu KB 8247 EG truck loaded with sand driven by IWS drove from Jimbaran to Pecatu. On the other hand, the victim was standing in front of Warung Rendang Roll Bali on the east side of the road. The condition of the road at that time was quite congested and uphill.
Arriving at the location, the truck stopped suddenly because there was another car in front of it. The driver tried to brake, but it was suspected that the leg brakes and hand brakes were not functioning properly so the truck slid back.
"The truck driver swerved to the left and climbed onto the pavement and hit a pedestrian, causing a traffic accident," said Sukadi.
