Rob Floods And High Waves Hit Tanggamus, 115 Houses Damaged

High waves accompanied by tidal flooding hit the coastal area of Tanggamus Regency, Lampung. As a result of this extreme weather, as many as 115 houses were damaged, ranging from light to heavy damage, even one house was swept away by the waves.

The two most affected sub-districts are Kota Agung District and Pematang Sawa District. Sea water overflow reaches residential areas, causing water levels between 30'50 centimeters (cm) at several points.

The Tanggamus Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) together with related elements immediately visited the location to conduct an emergency damage and response assessment.

Based on temporary data from BPBD, a total of 115 houses were affected, consisting of six heavily damaged houses, 13 lightly damaged, and 95 submerged by tidal flooding.

"There are no reports of casualties or injuries. We continue to carry out further data collection in the field," said Head of Preparedness and Emergency BPBD Tanggamus Hendarman Wahid, Monday, November 10.

Hendarman explained that this high wave phenomenon had been predicted by the BMKG since early November, coinciding with the maximum tide of the full moon and low air pressure in the western waters of Lampung.

BPBD Tanggamus appealed to coastal communities to remain alert to the potential for high waves that are expected to occur until November 12, 2025.

Although the tidal flood has receded completely. However, BPBD officers are still on standby at the affected locations to monitor the situation and help residents who repair their homes.

"We hope that coastal residents remain vigilant because the potential for high waves can still occur for the next few days," he said.
