The Karawang Joint SAR Team Finds Victims Drowning In The Citarum River

The joint SAR team managed to find the drowning victim in the Citarum River in the Karawang Regency, West Java, in a state of death after a three-day search was carried out.

"The search effort on the third day paid off. The drowning victim named Mahmudin (37) was found by the Joint SAR Team," said Head of Public Relations of the Karawang Police, Ipda Cep Wildan, in Karawang, Sunday.

The victim, who is a resident of Sukamaju Hamlet, Telukjambe Village, Telukjambe Timur District, Karawang, was found when officers conducted a search around the Wadas Village bridge, Telukjambe Barat District.

This search activity involved joint elements from the Karawang Police Satpolairud, BKO Ditpolairud Polda West Java, Basarnas Unit Karawang, BPBD Karawang, Koramil Telukjambe, Unit Inafis Satreskrim Karawang Police, and a number of volunteers.

"The victim, on behalf of Mahmudin, was found dead on Sunday morning," he said.

When found, he said, the victim's position was covered and stuck in a pile of hyacinth in the Citarum River.

Based on the search results, the victim's discovery point is about 9 kilometers from the initial location where the victim was reported drowned.

He said the evacuation of the victims went smoothly. The victim was successfully lifted from the river at around 08.45 WIB and immediately taken by the Karawang Police Inafis Unit to the Karawang Hospital for further investigation.

After the evacuation process, all elements involved carried out a consolidation rally and the closure of SAR activities at 09.13 WIB.

Karawang Police Chief AKBP Fiki Novian Ardiansyah expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in the search and evacuation of victims.

"We thank you for the synergy and hard work of all elements of joint SAR that have shown high dedication in carrying out this humanitarian task," he said.
